End of 2017, EcoNord has started up a project with the authorities in Singapore to install a number of electric bin lifters on Refuse Collection Vehicles in town.
This is only logical, when looking at the factors driving the growth of global solid waste management market:
- Increased globalization and growth in population have driven the overall volume of solid waste generated.
According to industry estimates, the urban population across the world has generated 1–1.5 billion tons of solid
waste in 2016, which is expected to increase to 2–2.5 billion tons by 2021. Meanwhile, the rise in population in
developing countries have increased buyers’ focus on managing solid wastes in these nations, including India
and Brazil, and in low-income countries such as Kenya and Ghana. - Stringent government regulations and reforms in policy framework related to solid waste management have
increased the engagement between global solid waste management service providers across multiple regions.
Governments are focusing on policies such as reduction in greenhouse gas emissions emitted by waste plants
and development of advanced technologies that can help manage growing solid waste volumes. Such
government policies have driven the global solid waste management market. - In addition, growing concern toward environment and health issues associated with solid waste management
have driven buyers across regions to adopt solid waste management techniques. Hence, they are increasingly
adopting techniques, such as composting, incineration, and sanitary landfills, to reduce harmful effects (such as
air and water pollution) on the environment.
